Guido Baviera’s unusual shot of architect Santiago Calatrava’s futuristic bridge over the Grand Canal in Venice has the eye in constant motion, just like the people walking the bridge, or the boats criss-crossing the canal and arriving at the jetty. We flit from the sunlit facades that line the canal to their reflections, then through the glass to those walkers again, and I imagine the scrape and slap of their soft soled shoes on the concrete interspersed with the sound of the sea slapping on the quay.
