Amsterdam has always been a favourite European city destination, with
long rows of tall and elegant gabled houses supporting each other along
the famous canals, with friendly people, and all the arts in abundance.
Almost everywhere you turn there’s a canal, and a café; perhaps it's
water that helps calm a capital city’s pace. Cyclists whir to and fro,
but there seems no overbearing rush to be anyplace else. Amsterdam
appears a city built on a human scale: aspiring yet down to earth,
forward thinking yet mindful of its heritage; a pleasure to explore
in images by Richard Taylor, Ben Pipe, Maurizio Rellini
and other 4Corners photographers.
