This is one of a series of stunning new shots of Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks in Canada’s Banff National Park, taken by Pietro Canali. In the other frames Canali captures the heightened colours of this extraordinary wilderness: the pinks, blues and greens of a fantasy landscape. But it’s the flat, grey light of this image that makes it stand out. The grandeur of the landscape is rendered eerie and mysterious, the felled timber in the foreground like the discarded bones of ancient creatures. It would make a good book cover.
